Don't Miss The Deadline!

Check out the major music charts these days, and you'll notice something depressing.  Most hit songs are written either by the artist or by established hit songwriters.  Well, where does that leave YOU, the unknown songwriter?  Most of the time, it leaves you fighting for scraps.  And the competition for those few spots is unbelievably difficult.

Bottom line: if you're an unknown writer writing with unknown writers, it's very, very difficult to get your songs heard.

Now, it's not impossible to write with a successful songwriter.  But it usually takes YEARS to earn your way into those rooms.  You start off writing with unknown writers and slowly work your way up to (hopefully) writing with hit writers.  It's a long, slow process, with a lot of unheard, unrecorded songs along the way.

I want to speed up your success and introduce you to a label artist looking for songs RIGHT NOW.

A native of Memphis, Joe Leather’s “Memphis Thang” influences are diverse, and that diversity is evident in his songwriting. An award-winning songwriter, some of Joe’s hits include, “ Save The Roses” by Lee Brice, "Tough" by Craig Morgan, “Where I’m From” by Jason Michael Carroll, Tim McGraw's "Still" and Steve Holy’s “Love Don’t Run.”

Joe also landed the title cut to the Kenny Chesney Platinum release “Hemingway’s Whiskey,” and Clay Walker’s “Jesse James.” The critically acclaimed “Nashville Without You” is on Tim McGraw’s Two Lanes of Freedom album and Thompson Square and Trace Adkins released “I Can’t Outrun You.”

Among the artists who have recorded Joe's songs include Trace Adkins, Clay Walker, Lee Brice, Guy Clark, Kris Kristofferson, Trailer Choir, Adam Gregory, The Davisson Brothers, Halfway to Hazard, Rio Grande, Lisa Brokop, Brian Davis, Thompson Square, Kellie Pickler, Jerrod Niemann, Randy Houser, Gary Allan, Ruston Kelly, Grace Askew, and others.

Joe’s approach to life and the craft of songwriting can be summed up by his own words, “swing hard, you might hit it.” Joe writes for Curb|Word Music Publishing in Nashville.

He’s willing to write with YOU - if your verse and chorus knock him out.

These songwriters landed PRO CO+WRITES...
and YOU could be next!

How does this work?

The Pitch A Co+Write Event exists to connect you and your music to a successful songwriter.  It's your opportunity to be heard by a real writer who's looking for their next hit.

Imagine watching a hit artist as they listen to your best verse-and-chorus... and getting their personalized feedback in real time. How would it feel to KNOW you've been heard?  What if they love your song?

There's validation knowing your song competes on a professional level.

Hey, maybe you're not crazy for having this dream after all, but it's more than just knowing that you belong with the pros.

It's a chance to finish writing your song with a pro.

The music business has never been easy.  It's hard to get a song recorded by a successful artist.  But I want to help you get through the velvet rope of the music industry.  I want to introduce you to a legit pro.

And this pro is open to writing with YOU.

Send in your best verse-and-chorus for our guest, and if it knocks their socks off, they just may want to write it with you!

Sounds like a no-brainer, right??

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

When is the event?
Thursday, May 21, 2026. 7:30pm Central Time

When is the Deadline to send in my verse/chorus?
Thursday, April 23, 2026 (at the end of the day).

Do I have to travel to Nashville for the co+write?
No!  Joe is open to writing online (Zoom, Facetime, etc.).

What is a Song-Start?
A Song-Start is the beginnings of a song.  In this case, we just want to hear a verse and a chorus: lyric and melody.

What if I want to pitch a finished song?
Only send in a verse and chorus.  If the song is already finished, that's fine.  But we don't want to hear anything more than a verse and chorus.  And remember, this is a pitch-to-co+write event.  So don't send in a song that you're not willing to co+write with our Guest.  Which would mean the Guest is added as a writer, share ownership with you, and the song may change from your original version.

Can I send in a full demo or worktape?
Either is acceptable.  Again, just send in a verse and chorus.  It can be fully produced or not.  We're listening for the best Song-Start.

Can I send in a lyric start without music?
Yes.  I will happily present a killer idea and lyric to the Guest.

What if my Song-Start already has another co+writer on it?
That's not a problem at all.  3 and 4 writers on a song is common.  Just make sure your co+writer is okay with the possibility of bringing in our Guest as an additional writer on the song.

What kind of song is the Guest looking for?
Joe is mainly looking for a Country song-start.

Am I guaranteed a co+write with the Guest?
No.  Getting the co+write is about getting the right idea/Song-Start in front of the right pro at the right time.  It's completely up to the Guest whether or not they want to offer up a co+write. But, if you bring in the start of a hit, they won't turn it down.  Because I CAN guarantee our Guest DOES want to write a hit.

Will the guest hear every Song-Start that is sent in?
Due to time constraints, our guest will ONLY hear the Top 10 songs that we think have the best chance to impress him or her during the event. The guest will also be given a copy of the next 10 songs, known as the "Top 20" songs. These are the next ten songs we think have the best chance of catching their ear.  We encourage the guest to listen to these songs at their convenience.

Where do I send my Song-Start?
You'll receive instructions on the after-purchase "Thank You" page and via e-mail.

What does it cost?
Each verse/chorus submission is $30 for non-SongwritingPro.com members.
Each verse/chorus submission is only $15 for SongwritingPro.com members.

EVENT DETAILS

After you purchase your "ticket" to this event, you'll see the instructions on where and how to submit your Song-Start. You will also receive an email that allows you to download the instructions.

Each entry will be evaluated, and the "top 10" Song-Starts that we think have the best chance to catch the Guest's ear will be chosen.  Joe is looking for COUNTRY MUSIC.

I guarantee that we will listen to each song you enter. (Purchase one ticket for each song you wish to enter. Enter as many times as you like.)

You can submit full-production Song-Starts or work tapes in .mp3 or .wav format. Either one is fine! It just needs to be something you can upload to us. You'll get the upload instructions after you purchase.

The top 10 songwriters will be announced through my website, SongwritingPro.com on Thursday, May 14, and they'll receive an exclusive invitation to our Zoom.us web-videoconference. During the 1 1/2 hour conference, the writers will be "face to face" with our guest as they listen to your Song-Start and provide honest, valuable feedback. Our guest will be able to see and hear you- and even answer a followup question or two.

This is a REAL pitch opportunity!  The bar is high, but you'll get a fair listen.

The Pitch A Co+Write Event itself will be an intimate, open, and honest time of sharing songs, feedback, and discussion. Therefore, it'll just be me, our artist guest, and the top 10 songwriters during the event.  Everyone else who enters a song will be able to watch the replay.

We'll meet with Joe Leathers on Thursday, May 21, 2026, on the Zoom videoconference platform.

Every Songwriter Who Submits A Song Wins!

EVERY writer who submits a song will be able to WATCH THE REPLAY of the event. A day or so after the event, I'll make the replay available (for a limited time) for each writer who submits a song.  This invaluable insight from a real artist is a big WIN.

The Replay Alone Is Worth The Entry Price

  • Any insight directly from a hit songwriter or artist is a BIG WIN.
  • Learn how a hit songwriter / artist thinks and what they're looking for in a co+write.
  • See for yourself what it's like to pitch a song or pitch a song idea in a co+write with a HIT SONGWRITER.
Let me be clear. Submitting a Song-Start does NOT guarantee that it will make the top 10 or that the Guest will hear it. Due to time constraints, our guest will ONLY hear the Top 10 songs that we think have the best chance to impress him or herThey will also be given a copy of the next 10 songs, known as the "Top 20" songs.  These are the next ten songs we think have the best chance of catching their ear.

Also, just because the Guest hears your song- even if he or she likes it- don't come in expecting to be offered a co-write or be promised a cut on the spot. This event is a door opener, not a deal closer. The purpose is for you to get valuable professional feedback- for your growth as a songwriter. The event may also result in the seed of a real, personal relationship with a Pro Songwriter. But I can't promise a co-write or a cut or anything else. That just isn't how the music business works. But if you knock our guest out with your songs... that's a great way to begin a relationship.

Also, we won't have time to give our personal feedback on every song that is entered. But we will listen. If your song is awesome, it'll get our attention. And probably our guest's, too.

GETTING A CUT IS ALL ABOUT WRITING THE RIGHT SONG WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE AT THE RIGHT TIME.

AND - RIGHT NOW - A PRO SONGWRITER IS READY TO HEAR YOUR SONG-START.  ALL THAT'S LEFT IS TO SEND IT IN.  DON'T MISS OUT.
